Instructions

For my latest trick, I will teach a complete novice how to land an airplane. To be specific, I will give detailed instructions on how to land a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, when already on final approach. This simply things we will  focus simply on the approach to land and the final touchdown rather than the entire flight leading up to that point. For the record, final approach means when the aircraft is already lined up with the runway, at about 500 feet or so. So if you are ever in a situation in which you will need to land a Cessna, your in luck.

Design

For me it started with coloring in the lines, then it went to stick figures and the house on the hill with a wisp of smoke coming from the chimney. It ended with copy and paste. But whatever your own artistic abilities are, when it comes to designing documents you don't have to be Picasso.
The book talks about things alignment, including pictures that actually matter or colors that blend into the back ground. It's basically stuff we already know. It's what we all what to see in the documents we look at everyday. Provide the information clearly and professionally without be verbose or boring. Give the people what they need with clear lines and professional colors. Make the design enhance what is happening with text.

Assignment numero uno

Welcome, you've found your way to a diamond in the rough here on the inter-web. Take my hand and step into the riveting world of technical writing. My first analysis set to come out soon will be a critique of the moodle home page for my online geography class. It may not be a technical document per say, but it is most certainly technical writing and I believe it fits the assignment well. I don't want to ruin any the surprises so I won't give too much away now, you'll have to check back once the full critique comes out next week. Happy surfing!
